Are You Ready For Digital?
The way we watch and record TV is changing. The analogue television signal of old is being turned off around the country region by region and soon all televisions will have to be digital ready.
Bridgend County is going digital this Spring. So any TV sets that are not converted to digital when switchover takes place will no longer receive TV programmes – it’s as simple as that.
Most people know that digital switchover will affect their TV, but less than half the population are aware that the way recorders work will also be affected.
After the switchover, all VCRs and most DVD recorders (analogue recording equipment) will still be able to record the channel you’re watching, but they won’t be able to record a different channel (this is known as independent recording). If you want to be able to do this, you’ll need a Digital TV Recorder, such as Freeview+, Sky +, V+, or a DVD recorder with 2 digital tuners. This will also convert your TV to digital.
Digital UK is the independent, not-for-profit organisation leading the implementation of digital switchover. Jointly owned by the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Five, S4C, Teletext and the digital multiplex operators.
