New
Mobile Banking Text Service Launched By MBNA
Credit card giants MBNA have launched a new mobile phone
service enabling UK
customers to receive account information by text message.
The technology behind the Mobile Banking Text service gives MBNA card-holders
access to information that would usually only be found on their statement.
Customers can use mobile short-code number 83838 to check their outstanding
balance and recent transactions as well as get hold of payment details.
Sales, Service and Operations executive for Bank of America Europe Card
Services, Ian Craig, said: "Our customers’ needs and expectations
are changing — they want greater control and choice in managing their
finances, and they want to do so in a way that fits their lifestyles.”
“Newer technology, including mobile phone functionality, SMS, the
Internet and voice recognition systems are transforming the way our customers
expect us to interact with them. The Mobile Banking Text service is one of a
number of exciting new improvements we will be making to our services.”
“With this service, we are able to provide our customers with another way
to bank that is simple, straightforward and puts their credit card information
at their fingertips whenever they need it.”
Bank of America, which owns the MBNA brand, has made the Mobile Banking Text
service available to all 5 million card-holders across the UK and on their
full range of credit cards.
Using the service could not be easier, all customers have to do is register
their mobile phone number to their account then decide what information they
want. To get their balance, ‘Bal’ is sent, for transaction details,
card-holders text ‘Trans’ and to find out payment details:
‘Bill’ is used.
The revolutionary service is unlike any other offered by fellow card companies
and MBNA provide it at no charge to users, although standard network costs may
be incurred. The feature will also work with all SMS-enabled UK mobile
phones to make sure that all customers have the opportunity to take advantage.
Anyone interested in finding out more about the service can visit MBNA’s mobile
banking services page.
The Mobile Banking service isn’t the only new feature that MBNA have
launched, they recently made paperless statements available for online
customers with more info at: paperless credit card banking page
MBNA has also made it possible for customers to activate their new credit
cards online – more information at their activation section – a process
that traditionally has been done with a phone call. This function is currently
only available on MBNA’s core cards but is to be rolled out across all
affinity products by the end of August 2010.
